Take Your Data with You
QuickAccess
let's you take your data offline in an automated
and bulk fashion, thus giving you the ability to
report, manipulate or otherwise utilize this data
in an offline fashion without affecting the rest
of your daily activities. Best of all, it
can be setup to run unattended over night or when
ever your network is less busy. Combined
with a "client"
interface, you can insure up-to-date information
in your offline database for critical tables while
limiting the amount of data traffic to and from your
main corporate server during the day.
If
you are looking for a more Real-Time approach,
check out our SQL-Sync
product.
QuickAccess
transfers data between Synergy's SDMS and Access
or SQL Server.
What
it Does and How it Works
QuickAccess
allows a system administrator to setup a list of
tables to transfer from one database to another. Certain
data, such as connection strings, ODBC DSNs, tables
names, etc., are provided by the system administrator. When
the server program is started, it reads this table
and transfers each of the tables listed within
it to the target database(s).
All functions are logged so the administrator can
tell if everything was successful. Further,
the setup database is updated with last successful
transfer date/time stamp for a quick look into whether
or not the process was successful.

There
are many options available for each table. The
figure below shows the add/edit window for each
transfered table.

If
desired, the Client program can be run at any time
to update individual tables on an as needed basis.
The tables that can be transfered are those with
the "Allow User Update" field set to "Yes" in
the maintenance program. This flag can be
set to "No" to eliminate the possibility
of a user refreshing the Sales History, for example,
during business hours.
